Magdalene’s story starts at the heart of Thalassa Studios, where she was born and raised after her parents fell in love with Porto Heli and chose it as their forever home in the 90s. With a background in theatre and special education in Athens, her early path was filled with creativity, performance, and a deep desire to connect with others. That same desire eventually found its expression through movement.

Her yoga journey began in India, where she immersed herself in Holistic, Restorative, and Ashtanga Yoga. She expanded her skills with Pre/Postnatal, Kids Yoga, Acro Yoga, and Yoga Therapy, becoming a certified Pilates and Cross Training instructor along the way. With over 800 hours of formal training and years of teaching experience, Magdalene’s approach is rooted in intuition, tradition.

Bringing Yoga Into Hospitality

Magdalene’s passion took her into the hospitality world, working with top wellness resorts like Grecotel and AMAN. She led Hatha and Vinyasa sessions, guided Nidra, Pranayama, Aqua Yoga, Reformer Pilates, and even nature hikes—offering guests a full-spectrum body and mind experience. Every session was a blend of deep knowledge and heartfelt connection.

Coming Home to Porto Heli

After years of teaching and traveling, Magdalene returned to Porto Heli to create something deeply personal. At Thalassa Studios, she’s built a sanctuary that reflects her values—simplicity, authenticity, and conscious living. Here, she welcomes guests with warmth and presence, offering space to slow down, reconnect with nature, and return to the body through yoga and mindfulness.

Lessons I've Learned

Magdalene had the good fortune of starting with a solid foundation, a beautiful family space where guests could feel cared for and at home. But she knew that wasn’t the whole dream. She envisioned a dedicated yoga shala. A sacred space for stillness, breath, growth, and community.

The journey to bring that vision to life wasn’t smooth. There were delays, unpredictable weather, and plenty of tough days. But Magdalene stayed steady. She held onto her vision through love and grit, reminding herself that the most meaningful things take time.

That yoga shala eventually came to life, not just as a structure, but as a living, breathing space of intention. It became a symbol of all she stands for: resilience, calm, and the power of presence.

My Message to Founders

Don’t rush the process. The hard days are part of it. Let yoga teach you not just how to move, but how to stay. Keep your heart in the work and your breath in the moment. You don’t have to build everything in a day. Just keep showing up, step by step, rooted in your values.

Let your space reflect who you are. Make it warm. Make it honest. People feel that.

Business Takeaways from Yoga Founders Magazine

Rooted Vision

Start with clarity on what truly matters to you. Your foundation doesn’t have to be perfect, but it needs to feel real.

Build with Presence

Create slowly and intentionally. Let each part of your business hold meaning, not just function.

Resilience Pays Off

Delays and obstacles aren’t signs to stop—they’re invitations to grow stronger in your purpose.

Turn Guests into Community

Don’t just offer services. Offer belonging. Let people feel seen, safe, and supported.

Teach Through Living

Let your life be the example. The way you carry yourself, the space you create—that’s the real teaching.
