Kaitlin Cruise’s journey began in a quiet suburb of North Texas. Raised in the same bedroom until she left for college, Kaitlin lived a life governed by achievement and the constant drive to meet—and exceed—expectations. From being a top student to striving for the best performance in dance, her world revolved around proving her worth through perfection. Even her leisure turned into competition, a pattern that carried into her academic success—graduating with a flawless 4.0 GPA in Special Education.

It was during her college years in Denton, Texas, that Kaitlin took her first yoga class. When she told the instructor her goal was to master handstands, the response—“there are no goals in yoga”—struck her like a foreign language.

Years later, that simple statement would begin to shift her entire worldview.

Life shifted in 2019 when Kaitlin began LifePower Yoga Teacher Training (YTT)—initially to support her students, but it quickly became a personal sanctuary. That same season, her father was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Balancing teaching and emotional turmoil, yoga became her anchor.

From Breakdown to Breakthrough

The passing of her father before she completed YTT forced Kaitlin to pause. The perfectionist facade could no longer hold. The anxiety that followed led her to outpatient therapy, marking a turning point in her healing journey. YTT transformed from a goal-oriented program into a space of personal refuge. Supported by her yoga community and therapy, Kaitlin began to rebuild.

By the end of 2019, she made bold decisions that honored her well-being. She left public education, began teaching yoga at Lifetime in Flower Mound, and launched her own business—Cruise Capabilities—guiding families through the complexities of public education. Her classes are now intentionally inclusive, shaped by her background in special education and her belief that yoga should be accessible to every body.

Embracing New Paths and New Partnerships

Five years on, Kaitlin still teaches yoga weekly and runs Cruise Capabilities. She also completed a 300-hour advanced YTT. This year, she’s co-hosting a yoga retreat with fellow yogi Stacy, inspired by Women Who Run With the Wolves—a blend of book club and soulful escape.
